i had a discussion with my jw friend during which i asked her why a rational person should believe the world is run by demons.
in response, she questioned the existence of objective rationality.
she said that we should "agree to disagree.
Oh dear. Friendships with jws is always complicated.
Their shunning = not speaking if you pass them in the street, ignoring of you totally etc.
You are more reasonable. You dont have to go that far.
Just tell her that you no longer wish to discuss the subject, but ask her if you can continue to be normal friends, who like hanging out etc.
Likelyhood is, she'll shun you. But at least she'll feel awkward. It might make her think
that was the reasoning in a recent public talk at my hall.. namely: if the end of the world happened in 1975, then loads of people who had not yet converted or been born would have been destroyed, or never existed, so therefore we should be happy that yahweh was patient and armageddon hasn't come yet.. .
anyone else see like 5 blaringly horrible problems with this reasoning?.

If A had come in 1975, god would have only had 4 billion to destroy.
Today he has 7 billion.
This brothers reasoning is absurd. 3 million more witnesses saved.
3 billion more to suffer distruction.
Why not have bought the big aA in 1975 and already have had 35 years of wonderful peace and lion petting?

most jw.s really believe that they ( as we once did ) are promoting gods will, but what if they really are ?
is it possible that god is supporting them even though they (governing body ) lie, because most jw,s are ignorant of the lies told on their behalf, ?.
when i was a jw i got attacked by the demons bigtime, but not now, and i can only assume that they (demons ) are happy that i am no longer a jw and are now leaving me alone, cant think of any other reason, has god ever supported a group who were similarly found wanting ?.

Think about this:
If the demons attack jws, BECAUSE THEY are serving god, would that not be a sign that THEY ARE serving god?
So, are the demons looking for ways to PROVE that jws ARE the way to go?

was watching a biography on the history channel about presidental securities and secrets, how the president is guarded just in case of an attack, an assaination attempt, etc.
it got me to thinking about if any of the past or current gb members (or wt presidents) have ever had any death threats?
do they have a specific plan for a gb member when they visit a city or country?

This stuff comes and goes in waves. One year inactive ones are "diseased" and not to be associated with, a couple years later there will be talk of getting them back to the KH and they will be issued invites to stuff. Then, a couple years later, they'll dig up all the "diseased" BS again.
I think its psycological. "Punish" us and then hold out the hand of welcome, hoping we've understood.
If we haven't understood, then we go back to another cycle of punishment.
when you step down is it announced at the hall?

They announced "Brother OTWO is no longer serving as an elder in the Buttpuppet Congregation" I was there.I made sure I commented in the "service meeting."
I made sure that I commented too. Didn't want rumors spreading. (Not that there is ever gossip at the KH.)
In my experience , everybody knew already, why, when, what for. No need to make a point. There were even some who were "pleased" for the person concerned. What insight!
